Don’t Let Pain Take Away Your Passions - Renier’s Story

When Renier first came to us, he wasn’t just dealing with back pain — he was grieving the loss of something he loved: cycling.

A severe flare-up during a CrossFit workout had pushed his long-standing lower back issues to the edge.
Riding was off the table.
Movement was limited.
Motivation was low.

But Renier isn’t one to sit still.

As a business leader, engineer, and father of active children, his time was limited — but his drive was high. He didn’t just want pain relief. He wanted strength, resilience, and the ability to get back on the bike — and stay there.

Today, Renier is:

  • Cycling 3+ times a week

  • Competing in road & mountain events

  • Lifting pain-free in the gym — even through the movements that once caused injury

  • Feeling stronger and more resilient than he did 10 years ago

  • Balancing family, career, and training without sacrifice

Here’s what made the difference:

✅ Rebuilt confidence through graded exposure to previously threatening movement
✅ Locked in weekly movement habits — even on busy desk-bound days
✅ Developed multidirectional hip strength and power to support and protect the back
✅ Established pre- and post-ride routines to keep his body primed
✅ Aligned gym training with his true passion — performance on the bike

Renier’s story is proof:
👉 You don’t need to give up the things you love because of pain.
👉 You don’t need to choose between performance, profession and family.
👉 You just need a plan that meets you where you are — and grows with you.

If you’ve accepted that your sport, your freedom, or your physical prime is behind you — let this be your reminder:
it’s not.

Here is what Renier has to say:

“The benefits have been enormous. I feel great on my bicycle, and can't recommend the team at Absolute Health & Performance highly enough”
